A mass shooting on St. Helena Island killed four people and left a quiet seaside community reeling.

Following the mass shooting early Sunday morning at a St. Helena Island restaurant, community organizations and businesses have come together to support the families and victims.
Four people were killed and four other gunshot victims were hospitalized after the mass shooting at Willie’s Bar and Grill, leaving the community reeling. However, organizations and community members are coming together in a number of ways over the next few days to provide support. Here is a list of scheduled events over the next week.

Her Table Catering & Events at Willie’s Breakfast Bar & Grill
This community fundraiser is hosted by Her Table Catering & Events to support the families affected by the tragedy at Willie’s Breakfast Bar.
They are serving $20 plate lunches and bowls of gumbo through Oct. 17, with a percentage of all proceeds and donations going directly to the families to assist with funeral and medical expenses.

Kingdom of Praise Apostolic Life Center Community Prayer
A community prayer service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 6-6:30 p.m. in the Staples parking lot, located at 11 Robert Smalls Parkway.
This community prayer is hosted by the Kingdom of Praise Apostolic Life Center.
Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce
The Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce is transforming their previously scheduled event on Thursday, Oct. 16 to provide an open space for prayer, comfort and support. They state that this space will be open for anyone who wants to come together, pray or share a meal.
Food will be provided, and local pastors will be available for prayer

- When: Thursday, Oct. 16 from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m.
Community Prayer and Vigil Service
Hosted by Antwan and Sabrina Milledge, this community prayer event was organized to offer comfort, unity and a place for people to express their grief. Antwan Milledge said he is a cousin of A’shan’tek Danielle Milledge, the 22-year-old woman who was killed in the shooting.
“People are grieving, the families of the victims are hurting and they can find comfort. I know this by talking to a lot of people,” Antwan Milledge said. “We will bring together for strength, and a sense of solidarity in their shared experience of loss and pain. It’s a collective experience so they can feel like they’re not alone.”
Faith and community leaders will attend, Milledge said.

GG’s Restaurant & Bar
Through Oct. 16, GG’s Restaurant & Bar is giving back a portion of all proceeds to the families to help aid in covering funeral and medical expenses.

- When: Through Oct. 16; Restaurant hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Lowcountry Mindful Motion’s Walk Against Gun Violence
This community walk has been rebranded and is now scheduled as a Walk Against Gun Violence. Hosted by the Lowcountry Mindful Motion, wearing comfortable walking shoes and bringing water bottles is recommended.
All ages are welcome.
