Attention, shoppers! Costco opening doors at its Pooler warehouse this week
Costco officially opens its Pooler location at 8 a.m. Thursday, just in time for those stocking up for Thanksgiving feasts.
The 151,000-square-foot warehouse at will anchor the new Mosaic Town Center development at 200 Mosaic Circle.
Only a month ago, the location was still under construction at the intersection of Pooler Parkway and I-16. Starbucks and Parker’s Kitchen already are open in the center, and signs promise that Chick-fil-A, HCA Healthcare, and National Tire and Battery are “coming soon.”
Costco’s website lists the departments that will be in its Pooler warehouse. Those include a gas station, bakery, fresh deli, optometry, hearing aid center and a pharmacy.
The warehouse is opening sooner than originally expected. In January, when the site plan for Costco was going through the approval process with Pooler officials, the target opening date was spring or summer 2022.
Currently, the closest Costco to Beaufort County is in Charleston.
Beaufort County residents have long heard rumors that Costco was going to open in Okatie Crossing off S.C. 170 and U.S. 278. Site plans released for the Jasper County development in 2015 included not only Costco but Lowe’s, Target, Kohl’s and a movie theater.
An “impasse” over costs stalled the deal, developer Doug Horne, president of Horne Properties, told The Island Packet in early 2019. The property, behind the new Okatie Pines senior apartment complex, remains available.
Hours for the Pooler warehouse were not listed on Costco’s website as of Wednesday, though a media kit distributed by Costco in October said the location would be open 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Memberships range from $60 to $120 per year and are available online.
