Starbucks opening this week on Hilton Head’s north end. Here are the details
Mark your calendars, Starbucks fans. Nearly two years after a fire, the coffee shop on Hilton Head’s north end is about to reopen.
Starbucks, located at 416 William Hilton Parkway in Sea Turtle Marketplace, is scheduled to open Dec. 4, according to an email from a company spokesperson.
Last week, workers were busy installing appliances and setting up furniture as a health inspector made the rounds.
The new building replaces a Starbucks destroyed in an early morning fire on Jan. 21, 2018. That fire, which caused the structure’s roof to collapse, was related to an electrical issue, officials said at the time. No one was injured in the blaze.
The new Starbucks’ interior decor is similar to that of the Shelter Cove coffee shop that opened in March. The 2,200-square-foot space has an earthy vibe, with wood grains and muted colors. One wall of the shop is made of floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the outdoor seating area.
The architectural design and character were “intended to provide an updated beach- and Lowcountry-inspired aesthetic to the center,” according to the project description filed with the Town of Hilton Head.
Those plans also explained the reasoning for relocating the drive-thru to the east side of the building, allowing vehicles to line up in a U-shaped lane instead of backing up onto U.S. 278.
Anchor businesses in Sea Turtle Marketplace include PetSmart and Steinmart.
Starbucks expects to hire about 20 employees at the new location, the company spokesperson wrote.
Okatie Starbucks
The Starbucks planned for Okatie Crossing in the Sun City area is expected to open in early 2020, The Island Packet previously reported. A more specific date was not immediately available.
Construction is currently underway along U.S. 278 next to Cracker Barrel and a Verizon store.
Eleven Beaufort County Starbucks locations are listed on the company’s website. The list does not yet include the Sea Turtle Marketplace or Okatie Crossing shops.
