911 caller at City Market shooting
Several calls came in from Bar Bar, a bar located in the City Market.
“Here at the Bar Bar we have shots fired,” the first caller said. “And this is no joke. We got a bar freaking out.”
Around 7-8 women reportedly hid in Bar Bar’s restroom, where at least one woman called 911.
“They’re shooting, they’re shooting!” she screamed. “Please, please send somebody.”
“Oh my god. Please hurry! Someone’s screaming for help outside,” she told the dispatcher.
The 911 dispatcher told the women police and emergency personnel were on the way. She told them to stay inside until police came into the bar to let them know it was safe.
Bodycam video shows the dramatic police pursuit that followed the shooting. SCMPD officers followed the white SUV through downtown Savannah.
The pursuit ended when the suspects’ vehicle ran through a group of pedestrians at Barnard and Bay streets.
“1050, 1050!” one officer yelled. “We’ll be at Barnard and East Bay. Pedestrians in the way.”
One person at the crash, 30-year-old Scott Waldrup, was killed as he pushed others out of the way.
The vehicle then crashed into a pole.
Two of the shooting suspects in the vehicle, Gabriel Magulias, 20, and Spencer Stuckey, 17, also died in the crash.
The third suspect and driver, 17-year-old Jerry Chambers Jr., was arrested and charged with three counts of felony murder, two counts of party to aggravated assault and one count of eluding police.
