There’s about to be a new place to get locally made booze in Old Town Bluffton

Bee-Town Mead & Cider plans to open in Bluffton on Feb. 7.

Business owner Mike Tripka said six products will be available for sale upon opening.

Products will include hard apple cider, traditional meads, coffee-flavored meads and fruit-flavored meads.

“As we get going, we will add more to the product line,” Tripka said.

People will be able to try a tasting or purchase a glass of the products, Tripka said.

Honey is used to make mead, a fermented alcoholic drink. The business plans to use local ingredients as much as possible.

No food will be served at the site, but customers are welcome to bring their own.

“It is a good place to come have a glass of mead and sit a spell,” Tripka said.

The production facility at 1230 B May River Road in the Scotts Market complex also will be available for private parties.

The business can hold up to 40.
