Check your pockets, a prize-winning Mega Millions ticket was sold in South Carolina
A prize-winning Mega Millions ticket was recently sold in the Midlands, according to South Carolina Education Lottery officials. Now the search is on for the five-figure prize winner.
A $10,000 winning ticket was sold at a gas station/convenience store in Prosperity, lottery officials said in a news release.
The winning Mega Millions game was bought at TJ Xpress at 11339 C R Koon Highway in Newberry County, according to the release.
The ticket matched four of the five white balls, along with the gold Megaball number, officials said.
The winning numbers from last Tuesday’s drawing were 9, 15, 46, 55, 57 and Megaball: 4.
The winner has 180 days to claim the prize, according to lottery officials.
The winner will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of eight states — along with Delaware, Kansas, Georgia, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.
The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the Megaball number are 1-in-931,001, according to the release.
“Sign the back of your ticket and put it in a safe location until you’re ready to come forward to claim the prize,” lottery officials said.
TJ Xpress will receive a commission of $100 for selling the winning ticket when it is turned in to lottery officials.

In addition to the $10,000 winning game, more than 7,000 other players in South Carolina won prizes in Tuesday’s drawing, according to the release.
There was an even bigger winner in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing. A $1 million winning ticket that matched all five white balls was sold in South Carolina, according to the lottery website.
The next Powerball drawing will be held Tuesday, when the jackpot is estimated to be $67 million.
