Three prize-winning Powerball tickets sold in South Carolina. Check your pockets
There was a winner in Monday’s massive Powerball drawing.
Although the $754.6 million jackpot went to a person in Washington state, three smaller but significant prize-winning tickets were bought in South Carolina.
A ticket sold in Fountain Inn won $100,000, while two other tickets — that were purchased in Barnwell and Murrells Inlet — each won $50,000, South Carolina Education Lottery officials said Tuesday in a news release.
All three of the prize-winning tickets were one number away from matching those drawn in the fifth-largest jackpot in Powerball history, according to the release.
Each of the tickets matched four of the five white balls, along with the red Powerball number in Monday’s drawing, officials said.
The winning numbers from the drawing were 5, 11, 22, 23, 69 and Powerball: 7.
The ticket sold at the Exxon gas station/convenience store in Fountain Inn doubled the other prizes because that person also purchased the PowerPlay option, according to the release.
The South Carolina winners have 180 days to claim their prizes, according to lottery officials.
The winners will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of eight states — along with Delaware, Kansas, Georgia, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.
“Sign the back of your ticket and put it in a safe location until you’re ready to come forward to claim the prize,” lottery officials said.

The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball number are 913,129-to-1, according to the release.
The chances of winning the top prize in Monday’s Powerball drawing were 293,000,000-to-1, officials said.
Because there was a jackpot winner, the next Powerball drawing on Wednesday is worth $20 million.
The convenience store in Fountain Inn will receive a commission of $1,000 for selling the winning ticket, while the convenience store in Barnwell and the Publix supermarket in Murrells Inlet will each get $500 when the tickets are turned into lottery officials.
