Check your numbers. A prize-winning Powerball ticket was sold in South Carolina
The Powerball jackpot for the next drawing will again be more than $400 million because nobody captured the top prize on Wednesday night.
But that doesn’t mean there weren’t any winners from the most recent drawing.
One of them recently bought a ticket in Columbia that’s got a five-figure prize attached — as soon as it’s redeemed.
A $50,000 winning ticket was sold at the Carolina Pantry gas station/convenience store at 7850 Garners Ferry Road, South Carolina Education Lottery officials said Thursday in a news release. That’s by Hallbrook Drive, about 2 miles from Exit 9 on Interstate 77.
The ticket matched four of the five white balls, along with the red Powerball number in Wednesday’s drawing, according to the release.
The winning numbers from the drawing were 6, 15, 22, 42, 47 and Powerball: 26.
The winner has 180 days to claim the prize, according to lottery officials.
The winner will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of eight states — along with Delaware, Kansas, Georgia, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.
“Sign the back of your ticket and put it in a safe location until you’re ready to come forward to claim the prize,” lottery officials said.

The Carolina Pantry will receive a commission of $500 for selling the winning ticket when it is turned into lottery officials.
The odds of winning $50,000 playing Powerball are 913,129-to-1, according to the release.
The chances of winning the top prize in the Powerball drawing are 293,000,000-to-1, officials said. Those long odds are not as big as the current top prize, as a $473 million jackpot is at stake during the next drawing on Saturday night.
