‘You should be in the finale.’ Watch Texas singer dazzle in ‘The Voice’ blind audition
A 30-year-old singer from Texas showed off her “magical, beautiful gift” on “The Voice,” earning her a four-chair turn during her blind audition that aired on Monday, Oct. 10.
Kim Cruse performed “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar, and it took just 15 seconds for John Legend to turn his chair for the Woodville native. By the end of the song, all four coaches were ready to give their pitch for Cruse to join their respective teams.
Gwen Stefani told Cruse her performance “was so unbelievably pretty.”
“The amount of talent God poured on you is insane,” she added.
Legend commented on how natural Cruse’s voice sounded — then he predicted fans will be seeing plenty more of her.
“Not only should she be on the show, you should be in the finale on the show,” he said.
She chose to be a part of Legend’s team and later thanked her fans in an Instagram post.
“With my eyes filled with tears, thank you all for being a part of this journey!” she said. “#TeamLegend baby! John Legend, let’s do this coach!”
Cruse is no stranger to the stage, having toured with gospel singer John P. Kee and sung background vocals for Monica, according to her profile on “The Voice” website.
She also won the singing competition “Race to the Blue” and was featured in the online variety talk show “The Terrell Show.”
“Though a country girl at heart, she loves to sing R&B and soul music,” her profile states. “Kim was born into a musical family and has performed in choirs throughout her school life.”
Woodville is in Tyler County and is about 115 miles northeast of Houston.
