Community mourns ‘devoted’ father of four killed in Hilton Head traffic accident

Hilton Head Island community members are mourning the loss of a bar employee and dedicated father who died in a traffic accident last week.

Henry Boynton, 49, was pronounced dead in the early morning hours of Dec. 16 after his Subaru struck a tree.

He leaves behind his partner Viviana and their four children, according to a GoFundMe organized on behalf of his family. The fundraiser has raised over $14,000 of its $50,000 goal in just four days.

“A devoted father, Henry worked tirelessly to provide for his family and give his children the best life possible,” reads the fundraiser’s description. “Now, Viviana is navigating profound grief while holding her family together and guiding her children through heartbreak.”

Boynton was an employee of Cheap Seats Restaurant Group, which includes bar and grill locations on Hilton Head and Bluffton.

The deadly crash happened the morning after the restaurant group’s employee Christmas party at Club Seats Grille. The site of the collision was about a quarter-mile from the bar.

It was one of two fatal collisions in Beaufort County within several hours. Shortly after, a pedestrian was struck and killed on Lady’s Island.

Information on Boynton’s funeral arrangements was not immediately available.
