Bluffton brothers arrested after deadly shooting outside Tailgators bar in Jasper County

Two brothers from Bluffton were arrested last week in connection with a fatal early February shooting at Tailgators, a popular billiards bar in Jasper County.

Marquis Lenard Green, 31, was charged Wednesday with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Curtis D’Rod Green, 37, was charged as an accessory “after the fact” to murder, which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

A 39-year-old Bluffton man was identified as the victim of a deadly Feb. 2 shooting at Tailgators Bar & Grille, located off Argent Boulevard. Restaurant staff was “committed to fully cooperating with law enforcement,” according to a Facebook post.

Police arrested the men after obtaining video footage from Tailgators Bar & Grille, which played a “crucial role” in identifying the suspects, according to the Jasper County police.

Marquis Green is accused of firing the shots that killed 39-year-old Bluffton resident James “Jimmy” Reynolds outside Tailgators in the early morning hours of Feb. 2. Reynolds was pronounced dead at the scene, but no other injuries were reported.

The Tailgators building, located at 1108 Argent Boulevard, was not damaged by gunfire, owner-operator Chris Cornell told The Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette. Its business hours remained unchanged.

A Freedom of Information Act request sent Feb. 3 for police reports related to the shooting had not been fulfilled as of Monday.
