1 man dead after shooting in parking lot of popular Jasper County billiards bar and grill

Details were sparse after an unidentified man was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning in the parking lot of Tailgators Bar and Grille, a popular Jasper County billiards bar and grill near the Beaufort County line.

Shots rang out just before 1 a.m. Sunday outside the bar, located at 1108 Argent Boulevard, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. One man died as a result of his injuries.

Department spokesperson Christian Felt would not answer questions about the circumstances of the shooting or how many shots were fired. As of Monday, it was unknown whether others were injured or if the building was significantly damaged during the incident.

Sheriff’s officials or the Jasper County Coroner’s Office had not identified the shooting victim as of Monday. Coroner Jeremiah Vaigneur II did not immediately respond to a voicemail left with questions.

Police were “in the process of meeting with family” of the victim as of Monday, Felt said. The sheriff’s office had not publicly announced any charges or arrest warrants related to Sunday’s homicide.

One man was killed in a shooting the morning of Feb. 2, 2025 outside of Tailgators, a popular billiards bar off Argent Boulevard in Jasper County. Restaurant staff was “committed to fully cooperating with law enforcement,” according to a Facebook post.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic incident that occurred in our parking lot last night, resulting in a loss of life,” read a statement posted on Tailgators’ Facebook page Sunday. The restaurant was “working closely” with sheriff’s office investigators and was “committed to fully cooperating with law enforcement,” the post said.

Tailgators was open Monday and its hours were not affected by the weekend incident, an employee told The Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette.
