Port Royal man charged months after apartment complex shooting. He’s the 3rd arrest
A 20-year-old Beaufort County man accused of shooting at multiple people in the parking lot of an apartment complex last year was arrested by Port Royal Police on Wednesday after being jailed in Columbia for multiple months on unrelated charges.
Trajaan Fripp, of Port Royal, is the third person arrested in the May 10 shooting outside a Port Royal complex, August on Southside apartments, on Southside Boulevard.
According to police reports, Fripp was one of two suspects who fired shots from inside a car after arguing with people in the parking lot. A juvenile outside the car suffered injuries to his head and arm.
Fripp’s charges include two counts of attempted murder and a count of possessing a weapon during a violent crime, Beaufort County court documents show.
He also faces charges of felonious assault and possession of a weapon during a violent crime stemming from a March incident where Fripp and two other suspects were accused of attacking another man at the same apartment complex.
During the assault, Fripp hit the victim “in the back of the head with the pistol grip of his handgun,” and kicked and punched him while he was on the ground, the report said.
His total cash bond for the charges related to both incidents is $350,000, according to the court documents.
Officers with Port Royal Police picked up Fripp from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Columbia on Monday and transported him to the Beaufort County Detention Center, a report from the department said. Fripp was still incarcerated as of Friday, according to the jail log.
Fripp had been jailed in Columbia since July on multiple charges, according to Richland County court documents. On Jan. 16, he pleaded guilty to obtaining signature or property under false pretenses with a value of $2,000 or less, as well as criminal conspiracy, the documents say. A weapons charge and drug charge with the same arrest date were dismissed.
Other arrests related to shooting
The day after the shooting, a 19-year-old Burton woman was arrested and charged with accessory before the fact to a felony. The woman owned the car the shots were fired from and was in the passenger seat at the time of the shooting, reports say.
The woman was released on a $50,000 cash bond.
Damaujae Jenkins, 18, a Grays Hill resident who was 17 at the time, was arrested on June 20 and charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime. Jenkins also fired shots from the car, according to reports.
Jenkins is still incarcerated, with a total cash bond of $225,000 for charges he faces related to the shooting.
