Description of suspects released in Bluffton parking lot killing of Hilton Head teen
Three days after 18-year-old Hilton Head Island High School senior Trey Blackshear was killed in a Bluffton church parking lot, police have released descriptions of the two suspects.
Bluffton Police Department investigators are searching for two males in their late teens or early 20s. They were seen wearing dark-colored hoodies and jeans at the time of the killing, Bluffton Police spokesperson Capt. Joe Babkiewicz said Thursday.
After the shooting, the two suspects ran across the street to the Bluewater gas station, Babkiewicz said. From the gas station, they ran to the CPM Federal Credit Union in Buckwalter Place, where they got into a light-colored four-door sedan and drove away.
Babkiewicz said police are still reviewing video from the scene.
Blackshear was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds, Babkiewicz said Thursday. Investigators found him in the driver’s seat of a Honda Accord parked in the Lord of Life Lutheran Church parking lot along Buckwalter Parkway.
The shooting happened at 2:21 p.m. Monday, according to the incident report.
Babkiewicz said he met with investigators Thursday afternoon after reviewing security footage from surrounding businesses.
After the initial 911 call, 10 officers arrived on scene, along with about a dozen of Blackshear’s friends and family.
The silver Honda believed to belong to Blackshear was towed from the scene around 5:15 p.m. Monday.
Blackshear was known as a good friend who loved soccer and always had a smile on his face, friend and classmate Chris Narvaez told The Island Packet on Tuesday.
“He was a good friend,” Narvaez said. “Honestly, he was very, very funny and it hurts to see my friend go.”
