Teen found shot and killed in Bluffton church parking lot identified
The Bluffton Police Department was on the scene of a homicide Monday afternoon in the Lord of Life Lutheran Church parking lot along Buckwalter Parkway.
Trey Jaden Blackshear, 18, was found shot and killed, according to Beaufort County Coronor Ed Allen. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday, said Capt. Joe Babkiewicz of the Bluffton Police Department.
The shooting happened around 2:20 p.m., according to a statement from Joy Nelson of the Bluffton Police Department.
A post on the Police Department’s Facebook page said officers are looking for two suspects. It said police don’t believe the victim or the suspects are affiliated with the church.
The unknown suspects reportedly left the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival. No description or identifying information about the suspects was released.
Allen was at the church around 4:30 p.m. A vehicle believed to belong to the victim was being towed from the scene around 5:15 p.m.
There was not thought to be a safety threat to the general public, but police were asking residents and visitors to avoid the area, according to the Sheriff’s Office release.
