Sea Pines security officer reports hearing gunshot
A security officer called the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office after hearing what sounded like a gunshot fired at about 3 a.m. Saturday while working at the Sea Pines Welcome Center, a Sheriff’s Office report states.
The security officer said the shot came from the area of Dunnagans Alley. He said it was followed by squealing tires and the sound of a vehicle speeding away.
Deputies searched the area but were unable to find any evidence of the gunshot.
Gunshots rung out across the island in multiple incidents on the night of July 5, according to police reports.
Two men, Christopher Mullen, 30, of Bluffton and Darren Maheffey, 27, of Hilton Head Island were charged in connection with shots fired at Street Meet on July 5.
Another suspect, Davion Sanford, also was charged in connection to shots fired on July 5 in the area of Reilley’s Plaza .
