Penn Center’s Harvest Day is Saturday on St. Helena Island. Here’s what’s planned
Tour Penn Center’s historic buildings Saturday during Heritage Harvest Day, which will also feature vendors, live music, seafood and a farmers market.
The event celebrates home, culture and people. The public is invited.
Heritage Harvest Day is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Penn Center, which is located at 16 Penn Center Circle on St. Helena Island.
Penn Center is the site of one of the first schools for newly freed African Americans during the Civil War. It also served as a retreat for Martin Luther King Jr. Today, it’s one of the nation’s most significant African American historical and cultural institutions.
