Ready for more sunny skies, drier days in Hilton Head? Here’s the latest forecast
After several days of gray skies and on-and-off rain that washed out some holiday events, Hilton Head residents can finally look forward to a stretch of sunshine returning to the Lowcountry.
A cold front moving through the region Wednesday night will sweep out the lingering moisture and usher in several days of dry, bright weather. Folks can expect cooler nights, gradually warming afternoons through Saturday and then a quick shot of colder air to start next week.
Here’s a breakdown of the latest forecast from the National Weather Service and when the sun may “outshine” the colder temperatures.
Wednesday brings a return of sunshine
A patchy fog lingered early Wednesday morning, but most was lifted after 9 a.m. Some areas even saw a light layer of frost after an overnight freezing fog advisory.
But throughout the day, Hilton Head should see clear, sunny conditions with highs near 60 degrees.
A southwest breeze will pick up through the morning and afternoon, with gusts up to 20 mph. Wednesday night will stay mostly clear and breezy, with lows around 44.
Thursday is cooler, but clear
Sunny, dry weather continues Thursday, though temperatures will dip slightly.
Highs reach the mid-50s with light winds. Thursday night also stays clear, with lows around 41.
Friday and Saturday bring a quick warmup
By Friday, the warmup begins.
Expect sunshine and highs near 60, then a jump to the mid-60s on Saturday — just in time for holiday outings or time outdoors.
Clear nights continue, with temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s.
Sunday sunshine sticks around before another front
Sunday brings mostly sunny skies and comfortable highs around 65.
A strong cold front is expected to move through Sunday evening, where lows could drop into the mid-30s overnight.
Early next week
Monday will be sunny but noticeably cool, with highs near 48. Some inland areas north of Hilton Head could briefly experience wind chills near 20 degrees early Monday morning.
By Tuesday, temperatures begin to warm again, reaching the upper 50s under mostly sunny skies.
