Hilton Head Christmas events postponed, cancelled

Rainy skies are impacting two Hilton Head holiday events this weekend.

The Town of Hilton Head announced Friday that the annual Christmas Tree Lighting event has been postponed to Wednesday.

Additionally, the Winter Wonderland Festival at Shelter Cove Park, which would have featured free bounce houses and a golden candy cane hunt, has been cancelled, The Island Recreation Center announced Wednesday.

Hilton Head’s tree lighting event will be held at Lowcountry Celebration Park on Dec. 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 pm. Santa will arrive at the park at 5:45 p.m. with the tree lighting scheduled for 6 p.m.

Bluffton’s annual Christmas parade is still on schedule for Saturday at 10 a.m.

Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park will host a drive-through light show Saturday through Monday from 6 pm. to 8 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, Hilton Head will see possible thunderstorms Friday evening with rainy conditions continuing through the weekend. Sunny skies are expected to return Tuesday.
