Breeze Airways launching new flight at Savannah/Hilton Head airport. Here’s where, when
Lowcountry travelers will have another direct flight option this upcoming summer as Breeze Airways expands its footprint at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport.
The airline announced new twice-weekly service to and from Akron-Canton, Ohio, beginning May 7, 2026, with flights operating Thursdays and Sundays. Tickets are already available for travel through mid-September 2026 at flybreeze.com.
The only other carrier flying nonstop between the region and Akron-Canton is Allegiant Air, meaning that Breeze’s entry into Savannah/Hilton Head International provides more routes and travel options for customers.
But Breeze isn’t the only airline expanding in the Lowcountry. Earlier this fall, Spirit Airlines began operations at Savannah/Hilton Head, offering nonstop service to Newark, New Jersey.
Breeze’s growing presence in Savannah/Hilton Head
The CAK route joins Breeze Airways’ existing offerings at the Savannah/Hilton Head airport, which currently include nonstop flights to:
- Hartford, CT
- Providence, RI
- Westchester, NY
- New Orleans, LA
- Fort Lauderdale, FL
Breeze Airways takes off in the Lowcountry
But Breeze’s regional growth isn’t limited to Savannah.
The airline also announced its first international flight option in South Carolina, launching nonstop service from Charleston International Airport to Cancún, Mexico, starting Jan. 17, 2026.
Charleston is also one of Breeze’s original launch cities, dating back to its start in May 2021. It was one of only six U.S. cities selected for Breeze’s international debut.
The international announcement coincides with the opening of South Carolina’s first permanent Global Entry Enrollment Center at CHS, providing easier access for international travelers seeking expedited U.S. reentry.

How the Savannah/Hilton Head airport is growing to meet demand
As of October, the Savannah/Hilton Head airport has served more than 3.5 million passengers and continues to set travel records.
About 4.1 million passengers traveled through the airport last year, up from 3.9 million in 2023, 2.8 million in 2021, and roughly 3 million in 2019.
To accommodate rapid growth, the airport is adding four new gates and more than 43,000 square feet of additional space.
