Spirit Airlines launching 4 new flights from Savannah/Hilton Head airport. Here are the details
Spirit Airlines announced on Tuesday that it will begin its inaugural service at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport this August, making it the second Georgia market on Spirit’s route map.
These new routes will bring additional travel options and expand the existing competition to the Lowcountry region’s growing air service.
“We’re thrilled anytime we can add a new carrier and destination,” said Lori Lynah, director of marketing and air service development for the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. “It always adds to the competition and contributes to the growth of our airport. We’ve been working to add Spirit to our carriers for a while, so we’re excited to welcome them.”
What are the new flights?
The new flight routes Spirit has selected to introduce nonstop service from Savannah include:
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR): Begins August 14; Daily flights
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL): Begins October 9; Four flights per week
Nashville International Airport (BNA): Begins October 9; Three flights per week
Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW): Begins October 10; Two flights per week
“While these flights are not new destinations from Savannah, they provide more routes and travel options for customers,” Lynah said. “If they do well, it always opens the door for more carriers to look into flying out of our airport.”
While the selection of cities and routes is determined by the airline, these destinations seem promising to airport officials.
According to information released by Spirit Airlines, Executive Director of the Savannah Airport Commission Greg Kelly stated, “We believe Spirit is a great fit for our market and the cities they are adding will be a strong addition for our community and region.”
