Hilton Head is getting a new Publix grocery store. Here’s where it’ll be located

Florida-based Publix Supermarkets is opening a third store on Hilton Head Island.

The supermarket chain is bringing a new, 48,000-square-foot store to the old Bi-Lo shell in Circle Center at 70 Pope Ave., near Coligny Beach Park.

Publix will be at the center of a reimagined Circle Center shopping plaza, which will be “reconfigured to enhance the retail mix and improve shopper experience,” according to Brixmor, the New York-based developer that owns the property. Leigh Paull, the contact listed on Brixmor’s webpage on the property, did not return a phone call or an email from The Island packet Wednesday.

Hilton Head public records show a temporary sign permit was issued for a “Publix coming soon sign” at 70 Pope Ave. sometime after Dec. 19, 2025.

Publix has more than 1,400 stores concentrated throughout the southeast, with stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The company has more than 70 stores in the Palmetto State, according to its website; it recently opened a store in Aiken and reopened a store in Daniel Island.

Publix has two Hilton Head locations: at 45 Pembroke Drive and in the Island Crossing Shopping Center at 11 Palmetto Bay Road. Representatives for the supermarket chain did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Wednesday.
