Time for a Starbucks fix? New coffee shop open for business in Sun City area
The much anticipated Starbucks along U.S. 278 in Okatie opened for business on Friday.
The building in Okatie Crossing near Cracker Barrel and the Verizon store has been under construction since early fall of last year.
The Okatie location is the only Starbucks in the Sun City area and the closest one to Hardeeville. The next closest free-standing location with a drive-thru is along U.S. 278 in Bluffton near Target.
The store is not yet listed among the locations on Starbucks’ website.
The company has been steadily solidifying its footprint in Beaufort County.
Last March, a new Starbucks opened in Shelter Cove Towne Centre.
In December, another location opened in Sea Turtle Marketplace on Hilton Head Island, replacing a store that had burned down in a January 2018 electrical-related fire.
Hours for the Okatie Starbucks are 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
A call and an email to the media office for the company were not immediately returned on Saturday.
An earlier statement emailed from the company said the 2,500-square-foot coffee shop would employ about 20 people.
