Remember a couple of years ago when movie crews transformed downtown Beaufort and a part of Bluffton into a small Alabama town?
Well, now you can watch the final product!
“Stars Fell On Alabama” is a romantic comedy about a Hollywood agent returning to town for his 15-year high school reunion. He persuades an actress to pose as his girlfriend after seeing his old friends all married and with children, according to the synopsis.
The PG-13 movie was released on multiple streaming websites to rent or buy on Friday, including Amazon, iTunes, Google, Vudu, FandangoNow, and YouTube.
Lots of the filming in Beaufort County took place in fall 2019, and the trailer was released last spring.
Crews and cast were seen throughout Beaufort, including on Bay Street, and nearby at The Beaufort Inn and Blackstone’s Cafe. Other locations included Port Royal, Beaufort Academy on Lady’s Island, and the Old Town Dispensary in Bluffton.
“We’ve gotten a great response to the trailer, and everyone is so proud of it already, “ Rareform Pictures director VW Scheich said last spring. “I like Beaufort as the backdrop. It’s a picturesque town.”
Scheich partnered with The Beaufort Film Society for filming, and more than 100 extras were recruited to work with 25 cast members and about 40 crew.
Last spring, Scheich said Rareform Pictures was hoping to screen the movie in Beaufort at some point, adding that the company’s social media pages will be updated regularly.
“A lot of great people worked on this,” Scheich said. “And, everyone’s responded really positively.”
