Singer Maria Howell will appear alongside the Noel Freidline Quartet this weekend at The Jazz Corner.
A jazz and R&B recording artist, Howell opened for the legendary Ray Charles and shared a stage with Philip Bailey from Earth Wind and Fire and many others.
She's also made numerous appearances on the silver screen as the standout gospel choir singer in "The Color Purple" and as the nightclub singer Goldie in "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles."
Freidline has been the leader of his own group, The Noel Freidline Quartet, since 1991.

He performs regularly with the Charlotte Symphony and with touring Broadway shows such as "Jersey Boys" and "Dream Girls."
The Noel Freidline Quartet has opened for such musical stars as Tony Bennett, David Sanborn, Kenny G., Rosemary Clooney and Dave Brubeck, among others.
The pair will play at 8 p.m. Jan. 29 and Jan. 30 at the club, at 1000 William Hilton Parkway (in the Village at Wexford), Hilton Head.
