Lucas: Local author, veteran to discuss new book on Bluffton and the Civil War

Local author and veteran Jeff Fulgham will discuss his new book "The Bluffton Expedition: The Burning of Bluffton, South Carolina, During the Civil War" at 2 p.m. on Jan. 31, at the Heritage Library, 852 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head.

The discussion will include the significance of the Bluffton Movement of 1844.

Fulgham has served in operations Noble Eagle, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, earning a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Fulgham is a graduate of American Public University and a sergeant in the South Carolina Army National Guard.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event. A signing will follow.

The cost for the event is $10.
