Considering a visit to the Charlesfort Santa Elena landmark? You’re going to have to wait

Due to damage caused by Hurricane Matthew, the Charlesfort Santa Elena National Historic Landmark on Parris Island will be temporarily closed, according to a press release sent out by Parris Island officials on Oct. 21.

Currently, assessments are being made to determine the extent of repairs and when the exhibit will be safe to visit.

The landmark is expected to remain closed until after January 2017.
