How is traffic on Hilton Head so far?

Hilton Head Island town officials have said traffic was back to normal by early afternoon Wednesday.

“At least at the moment,” Steve Riley, Hilton Head town manager, said.

Traffic was bumper-to-bumper on Hilton Head late afternoon Tuesday because of people leaving early and getting gas and groceries, triggering the South Carolina Department of Transportation to reverse U.S. 278 from Spanish Wells Drive to Moss Creek Village Drive.

It is likely Hilton Head roadways could see increased congestion as Hurricane Matthew draws closer in coming days.
