Any idea what U.S. 278 and I-95 look like at the moment?
Here’s a couple of apps that show how bad the traffic will be on your evacuation route:
▪ Google Maps will shade traffic lines orange for minor delays and red for major congestion. The app also details how long the delay will be.
▪ Apple’s Maps is less detailed. Congested portions of your route will be shaded, but no breakdown on how much time the traffic will cost you.
▪ Waze has icons pop on your route to show when traffic, an accident or road work is approaching. The traffic icon is broken down to identify moderate, heavy and standstill traffic. The app allows drivers to add in stops for fuel or food along your route. Waze can calculate other route options if the first one looks busy. To encourage safe driving, you can enable the app to deliver voice commands with the wave of a hand. The app will also send an estimated time of arrival to family and friends, so you don’t have to make that call.
