Lowcountry man loses job after photo shows him next to Charlottesville murder suspect

A South Carolina man lost his job Monday after a photo of him at the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville this weekend surfaced on social media.

The New York Times photo showed the Ridgeville man, Nigel Krofta, standing next to James Alex Fields Jr., the man who allegedly killed a woman and injured 19 other people by driving a car through a crowd at the Unite the Right rally on Saturday.

Krofta’s Facebook profile indicates he resides in Ridgeville and works as a welder and mechanic at Limehouse & Sons Inc. in Ladson, S.C.

On his page, Krofta also promotes racist and neo-Nazi beliefs, and refers to himself as an “unashamed, unabashed white devil.”

Charleston-area residents called Krofta out on social media Monday for his alleged role in the white supremacist rally where three people were killed, according to The Post and Courier.

Following social media outrage from Lowcountry residents, Limehouse & Sons Inc. put a statement on Facebook saying that “we do not condone the actions of the people involved in this horrific display that has taken place in Charlottesville, VA.”

“We also do not knowingly hire criminals but when it comes to our attention that we have someone within our organization that fits this description we deal with it in a timely manner...” the post continued.

In response to questions about Krofta from Facebook users Monday afternoon, the company commented “He is no longer an employee of Limehouse & Sons Inc.”

It was not immediately clear whether Krofta left of his volition or was terminated, according to The Post and Courier.

His political views, as listed on his Facebook page, include: “Zenophobe [SIC], Narcissist, Bigot, Misogynist, Racist, Nazi, Ignorant, Right-Winger, Anti-Semite, Islamophobe, Fascist, Dumbass,” according to The Post and Courier. He is also a member of the “Confederate Monument Preservation Society” and “The Deplorables” Facebook groups.
