Victim in fatal Bluffton crash identified
A 61-year-old Bluffton woman was killed in a crash on U.S. 278 in Bluffton Sunday morning.
Two vehicles collided on U.S. 278 near Hampton Parkway around 8:30 a.m., killing one driver, according to Bluffton Police Department spokeswoman Joy Nelson. Information on injuries to the second driver were not immediately available.
Eun Bu Kim died at the scene, Beaufort County Coroner Ed Allen said Sunday afternoon.
The driver who was killed was making a left turn onto westbound U.S. 278, Nelson said. The second driver was traveling eastbound on U.S. 278 when she struck the first driver in the intersection.
The crash happened at the intersection with a traffic signal between Hampton Parkway and Island West Drive.
A Bluffton Police Department investigation is ongoing, and the department’s crash reconstruction unit was on scene Sunday morning.
Eastbound lanes were temporarily closed at that intersection Sunday morning and were reopened around 10:30 a.m.
