Ex. Hilton Head gas station worker walks off with $1,200 in money orders, report says

A former Hilton Head Island gas station employee is being sought by police after she allegedly wrote herself $1,200 in money orders, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.

The theft at the Speedway on William Hilton Parkway happened on Dec. 21 and was reported to the Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, according to the report.

A manger for the gas station told a deputy that the former employee was seen on surveillance footage writing the orders, putting them in an envelope and putting that envelope into her purse, the report said.

The manager became aware of the thefts when Bank of America sent the gas station receipt from a deposit on the day of the theft and the manager realized the deposit was short $1,250.

A deputy asked a judge to write an arrest warrant for the woman.

No arrest was listed in the report.
