Police: Threat written on bathroom wall at Hilton Head school ‘not substantiated’
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging Hilton Head Middle School students to attend class Friday after a threat written on a bathroom wall was investigated.
The message was discovered Thursday afternoon in a female bathroom and advised students not to attend school the following day, as there would be killings, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
In a separate news release sent late Thursday night, the Sheriff’s Office said the threat was investigated and not substantiated.
“Based on the investigative findings, we encourage students to attend school (Friday),” the release said.
The release said there will be increased law enforcement presence on campus and around the school along with SROs, investigators and deputies.
Students are encouraged to report any suspicious activity and threats of violence.
Anyone with information about the threat may contact the Sheriff’s Office at 843-525-2777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.
