Authorities find body of Lowcountry fisherman who went overboard Sunday morning
The body of a fisherman who fell overboard near the Cypress Gardens Boat Ramp in Berkeley County on Sunday morning has been found, according to WCBD television station.
The boat ramp is adjacent to Chicken Creek, according to Google maps.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office was working alongside the Moncks Corner Rural Fire Department, the Pimlico Fire Department and the Cordesville Rural Fire Department to find the fisherman.
The incident was reported around 8:55 a.m., and dive teams and boaters searched the area, WCIV reported.
High tide made the search difficult early Sunday afternoon because it brought a stronger current and reduced visibility in the water, said WCSC.
Authorities were alerted after a nearby boater heard a splash in the water, according to WCSC.
That boater went over to where the splash was heard to try to rescue the fisherman but he had already disappeared beneath the water, Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis told WCSC.
