Beaufort County Sheriffs investigating Burton shooting that left one man injured

One man is wounded after being shot at a Burton residence on Sonya Faye Lane in Burton this morning, a news release from the Beaufort County Sheriffs Office says.

There is no public threat as all parties involved in the shooting have been located but a heavy police presence will remain as investigation of the incident continues, the release states.

Police were alerted to the shooting when the victim approached a sheriff deputy at a nearby gas station, the release states. It states the adult male was shot at the Sonya Faye Lane residence and then drove himself to the convenience store near Roseida Road.

At the same time the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an adult male at the residence where the shooting occurred, the release states.

The injured man was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment, the release says. It says an update on the man’s condition will be released when it becomes available.

As of 10 a.m. Saturday, deputies continued to interview all parties involved and collect forensic evidence.
