Handbag thieves make off with $1,500 worth of purses from Bluffton store
Nine handbags worth more than $1,500 were stolen from a Bluffton store on Sunday and the fashion-conscious thieves remain at large.
The theft was reported at Kate Spade on Fording Island Road and happened sometime between 2 and 4 p.m., according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
An employee of the store called the Sheriff's Office after an inventory check revealed the store was missing the handbags. The employee told a deputy that a large group of women had come into the store around 2 p.m., but no one saw them take anything.
The business does not have security cameras, the report said.
