Bluffton man arrested following alleged armed assault Wednesday afternoon

A Bluffton man has been arrested following a Wednesday afternoon alleged armed assault on Buck Island Road.

The incident was reported around 1:45 p.m. at Buck Island Road after the victim reported he had been assaulted by the male occupant who lived at the home, according to Bluffton Police Department spokesperson Joy Nelson.

The male victim was visiting the home when the alleged assault happened and told police that after the incident, the assailant went back inside the home.

Police set up a perimeter around the home only to find that the man had left prior to their arrival.

A detective arranged to meet the man and has since taken him into custody, Nelson said. Any pending charges have not yet been announced by the police department and the man’s identity has not yet been released.

The victim was treated by EMS at the scene for minor injuries on his face.

Police plan to remain at the scene to execute a search warrant at the home, Nelson said.

Drivers in the area should use caution when passing the scene.
