Beaufort car fire causes a scene at courthouse

A car fire at Beaufort County Courthouse on Wednesday caused a stir but limited damage.

A Volvo wagon’s engine compartment was in flames when firefighters arrived in the courthouse parking lot about 3:45 p.m., Beaufort-Port Royal Fire Chief Reece Bertholf said. In addition to the burned Volvo, neighboring cars had minor cosmetic damage.

No one was hurt, Bertholf said.
