This Beaufort County brush fire along US 21 wasn’t near any hydrants
A Burton brush fire along Trask Parkway took two fire districts an hour and a half to extinguish Wednesday morning, according to a Burton Fire District news release.
The fire started small but spread to about a half-acre near Garrett Smalls Road around 11:30 a.m., according to the release. Since there are no hydrants in that area, Burton firefighters called on Sheldon Fire District to send a water tanker.
No buildings were damaged, but some U.S. 21 traffic was slower in that area, according to the release. This is the 10th brush fire in the Burton area so far this year.
