Seabrook home broken into, $22K worth of property stolen including 1929 kit car
A Seabrook homeowner returned to his house on Friday to find the home and the garage had been broken into and over $22,000 worth of belongings had been stolen, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
The home on a small street off Stuart Point Road was broken into between Nov. 27 and Friday, according to the report. Among the items reported stolen were a white and burgundy convertible 1929 Mercedes Benz Gazelle kit car, a riding lawn mower, a golf cart, a rifle, several power tools and electronics. The total estimated value was $22,310.
The homeowner, who lives primarily in Ulmer, said his wife was at the Seabrook home recently and everything was fine, according to the report. When he arrived at the second home on Friday, the garage door and the house’s front door were both broken and ajar.
It wasn’t immediately clear how the burglars made it onto or off of the property with all of the larger items, according to the report. The homeowner said the front gate was still locked when he arrived and his property is bordered on each side by either a chain link fence and water. The electric meter had been pulled out when he arrived, possibly in an attempt to disable security cameras or alarms, according to the report.
