Bicyclist killed in hit and run on US 278, officials release vehicle description
A bicyclist was killed early Saturday morning in a hit and run accident on U.S. 278 Business near Queens Way, according to a S.C. Highway Patrol representative.
Cpl. Sonny Collins said a bicyclist was traveling west on U.S. 278 Business when they were struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene after the crash around 2:45 a.m.
In a statement released by S.C. Highway Patrol, the vehicle involved is burgundy or maroon and it’s suspected to have damage on the driver side front bumper, hood and grill area, with possible windshield damage. The exact make and model of the car is unknown.
Highway patrol continues to investigative the crash with its collision reconstruction team, Collins said.
