Which Port Royal restaurant is closing after more than a decade in business?
MoonDoggies Cafe & Grille in Port Royal will serve its last meals on Saturday before closing the business permanently, a co-owner said Thursday.
“The food and beverage business is a difficult business to be in, and quite frankly, we are tired,” Nancy Harris Vista, co-owner said Thursday. “It was a hard decision and one we put a lot of thought into.”
Harris Vista said the group of owners, which includes her husband and brother, were no longer able to put the hours necessary into running the business.
“What it needs is a young couple to run it,” Harris Vista said.
A bed and breakfast above the cafe will remain open along with other family-owned businesses — such as Nuances, a Port Royal florist and jewelry store, and Turtle’s Nest, a retail store on Harbor Island.
Any gift certificates for Moondoggies can be redeemed at Nuances.
“It was a hard decision,” Harris Vista said. “I feel like I’m losing a family member, but fortunately we are not going anywhere.”
