Walmart and Sam’s Club to ring in the New Year with grand opening of Bluffton stores

The long-awaited Walmart Supercenter and Sam’s Club at Bluffton Gateway will soon be open at the intersection of S.C. 46 and U.S. 278.

According to a sign posted outside the new Walmart advertising new positions for hire, the store will open Jan. 25.

There is no sign indicating the opening of the Sam’s Club, however, a Sam’s Club employee at the store on Hilton Head Island said Wednesday that the new bulk store would open Jan. 19.

Both stores from the exterior appear finished, though plenty of workers and equipment can still be seen at the site. The new gas station also looks close to completion. A light installed at the intersection of the stores and the Kitties Crossing shopping center on S.C. 46 seems to be ready for the grand opening, but was not operational as of Thursday.

An email to Walmart representatives was not returned Tuesday.
