Jamie Lee Curtis wraps ‘Halloween’ filming in Lowcountry, thanks the area on Instagram
That’s a wrap!
Jamie Lee Curtis wrapped filming for the latest installment of the “Halloween” franchise Friday and took to Instagram to celebrate and share her love of Charleston, where she has been filming the movie.
“So sad to leave all my new friends in Charleston,” she said on the social media app, thanking the Holy City’s Kudu Coffee & Craft Beer for keeping her caffeinated and HAJ Salon for her hair care, as well as The Dog Wash, Hampden Clothing and The Dewberry Hotel, where she stayed throughout her return to her breakout role as Laurie Strode.
In a subsequent Instagram post, Curtis referred to The Dewberry as the nicest hotel she had ever stayed in.
“It is warm and welcoming, the staff is friendly and helpful and all seem to love their jobs,” she said. “It is old school elegance meets new school cool and I couldn’t recommend it with more enthusiasm.”
The warm feelings expressed toward Charleston by Curtis in her posts were returned by many.
“You rock! Love you so much!!” commented one fan.
“So bummed I didn't get to run into you, Jamie, since you were right around the corner! Come back soon, once you go to Charleston you always have to come back,” said another.
People were also enthusiastic about the new movie, congratulating Curtis for her return to the franchise and expressing their hopes that she won’t die, which strangely enough already happened in both 1988’s “Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers” and 2002’s “Halloween: Resurrection.”
This new film will ignore those films, though, and everything else in the franchise except for John Carpenter’s 1978 original. It will also reunite Curtis with the original Michael Myers, Nick Castle, who is returning to the franchise for the first time in this film after moving on to a successful writing and directing career with such films as “Hook” and “Major Payne.” Myers is also known in the franchise as “The Shape.”
In addition to bidding Charleston a fond adieu, Curtis grabbed a photo with co-stars Judy Greer and Andi Matichak, who play her daughter and granddaughter respectively, to mark the end of filming.
“Wrapping things up here in Haddonfield,” Curtis said. “Three generations of strong, striped, Strode women.”
The new “Halloween” is slated to hit theaters Oct. 19.
