Did Justin Bieber visit Palmetto Bluff this week?

Social media featured a flurry of posts about Justin Bieber allegedly spending time in Palmetto Bluff this past week but his presence in the Lowcountry was unconfirmed as of Saturday afternoon.

Several Facebook posters said they saw a video on Bieber’s snapchat earlier this week that confirmed he was in the area. Yet, snapchats disappear after 24 hours and no one could provide a screen shot of the social media post.

Palmetto Bluff Resort officials also said Saturday that they did not have a guest stay with them by that name.

One Facebook post claimed Bieber went on a fishing excursion through Outside Hilton Head. Employees at the business said Saturday they were unaware of Bieber using their services.

PGA of America tweeted photos of Bieber attending the PGA Quail Hollow Championship in Charlotte on Tuesday. JBCrew Backup, a fan twitter site for Bieber, also posted a video allegedly of Bieber at a restaurant in South Carolina on Thursday.

There have been several sightings of celebrities in the Lowcountry this year.

Comedian Dave Chappelle and Norman Reedus were spotted in Beaufort in February. Jason Segel of “How I Met Your Mother” visited Corner Perk in Bluffton the same month. Brian Baumgartner, known as Kevin from “The Office,”

was seen on Hilton Head Island in June.
