Shamrock Run taking entries for Saturday’s race

Registration remains open for Saturday's BNC Bank Hilton Head Shamrock Run, which conducts its 21st edition down its traditional course from Heritage Plaza to Coligny Plaza.

Past editions of the St. Patrick's Day-themed 5K race have drawn more than 350 runners to the start line. The flat and fast course will take participants down Pope Avenue, North Forest Beach Drive and then Lagoon Road to the finish inside Coligny Plaza.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three runners in each category, along with awards for the top three overall male and female competitors. The event also will have a "Beat the Leprechaun" feature in which every runner who beats the race's designated Leprechaun will receive a gift.

Entry fees are $35, with the first 400 participants receiving a Shamrock Run T-shirt. Runners are encouraged to wear green.
