Lowcountry Masters set 23 state records at short-course meet
Pete Palmer set 11 new state records and Barbara Eisele established 10 as the Lowcountry Masters swim club placed third at the South Carolina State Short Course Yards Championships last weekend in North Myrtle Beach.
Lowcountry Masters swimmers established 23 individual records at the meet, along with one new relay mark. D.J. Murray and Rich Alexander also were record-setters in their events, and Bob Colyer joined Murray, Eisele and Palmer for a new freestyle relay record in the 75-plus division.
Palmer (men 80-84), Eisele (women 85-89) and David Jennings (men 65-69) won high-point awards for their age groups.
Also winning events for Lowcountry Masters were Louis Ackerman, Meredith Anderson, Jim Carroll, Viki Hill and Pete Lauer.
