Recreation briefs, Jan. 9: Online registration opening for PALS youth sports

Online registration will open soon for all Beaufort County Parks and Leisure Services spring sports.

The website for registration and more information is www.bcpals.com. Parents must provide a copy of the youth's birth certificate if it is not already on file with PALS.

Registration for youth lacrosse is open and runs through Feb. 1.

The sport is open to kids ages 7 through 13 as of Aug. 31, 2015. Cost is $60 per participant with a $5 discount if registered by Thursday.

Each player will be provided with a team jersey and mouth guard to keep. They will also be issued a helmet and shoulder pads to be returned.

Participants will be required to have a stick, arm pads and gloves. This sport is hosted in Bluffton only.

Youth soccer registration runs Friday through Feb. 19 for kids ages 4 through 15 as of Sept. 1, 2016.

Cost is $60 per participant with a $5 discount if registered by Jan. 22.

The fee includes a uniform shirt, shorts and socks. Shin guards are mandatory and not provided.

Registration for youth baseball runs from Friday through Feb. 19 for kids ages 4 to 15 as of May 1, 2016. This is Beaufort only.

Cost is $65 per participant with a $5 discount if registered by Jan. 22.

BC CHEERLEADERS PERFORM

Twelve cheerleaders from Battery Creek High School performed Jan. 2 at the TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla.

Making the trip were Kaylan Lanigan, Katie Calandra, Victoria Ganshow, Brittany Dryden, Michayla Jennings, Marissa Davis, Destinye Stormer, Hannah Holt, Sydney Hopkins, Hensley Tran, Kaysi Wilson and Shaelyn Pinet, along with coach Lydia Williams and several parents.

The girls were the only participating team from South Carolina. Also performing was the Parris Island U.S. Marine Corps Band.
