18th Fripp Island Kids Thanksgiving Fishing Tournament a success

More than 70 kids took part in the 18th annual Fripp Island Thanksgiving Kids Fishing Tournament on Friday at the Fripp Island Marina.

Locals and vacationers, ages 3 to 15, cast their lines on a sunny but windy day.

All the kids received prizes and T-shirts and had plenty to eat. Winners earned trophies and rods and reels.

In the red drum category, Linda Lupold was first (5.05 pounds), Macy Lupold was second (3.10) and Riley Hall was third (2.55).

Meridith Harmon was first in flounder (2.2 pounds). Lea Tangelos was second (1.2) and Michael Spann was third.

In croker, Timothy Graham was first (3.65 pounds), Sam Graham was second and Russ Prophater (2.4) was third.

In black drum, first was Borden Parker (8.7), second was Harrison Hall (5.3) and third was Kathy Ropla.

No trout were caught so those prizes went to Holden Hall, Collene Whatley and Jackson Ropla for catching prize fish.
