Bluffton squad captures state U8 recreational soccer title
The Bluffton U8 Boys All-Stars soccer team captured a state title by winning the S.C. Recreation & Parks Association tournament last weekend in Sumter, defeating Walhalla 2-1 in the final.
Connor McMorrow scored both of Bluffton’s goals in the opening half, beating Walhalla for the second time during the tournament. The Bluffton squad went unbeaten through four games in the playoffs, starting with a 1-0 win over Beaufort for the district title.
“We knew if we worked hard and played as a team, that the goal to become champions was possible,” coach Brian McCarthy said. “They represented the Town of Bluffton and Beaufort County well with their sportsmanship and tenacity.”
